This month you have several assignments!
Our theme for February will feature “Community Helpers.”
We will emphasize that each of you is a community helper based on the work you do. Please spend some time with your child completing the COMMUNITY HELPERS WORKSHEET.
Download and print as many as you need to fill one out for each adult member of your child’s family. Directions are on the sheet. Many of our lessons throughout February are based upon these worksheets — your input will create a terrific learning opportunity.
We will also have a COMMUNITY HELPERS SHOW & TELL Please send something that you use in your job. Things will be displayed in the Discovery Room. Each child will use their parent’s tools for a Community Helper show & tell” on a special day to be posted.
We will have an exchange of valentines during the week of Feb. 15 – 19. On any of these days, your child may bring 20 valentines signed with his or her own name. (There will be a box out front for safe delivery.) This is a good motivation for practicing name writing. But… it is a big job to write your name 20 times, so please get the Valentines early so they can do one or two a night. Remember parents! One upper case letter to start the name, and the rest lower case. We will decorate bags at school to hold the valentines which the children will distribute when they bring them to school.
Another way we teach the children to express their love is to make and send Valentines to their Grandparents. As a bonus, they also learn about our postal service and how the mail works. So much fun! To participate, please send in a stamped, addressed envelope for each Grandparent you would like to receive a valentine by February 8.
